2025.22

Once again it was time for another Fabulous Fix-Limit Fiesta of mix game cash!  A superb nine game rotation where you can only bet $2 or $4, although sometimes you can bet $8 if the stars align just right.

Speaking of stars, we played underneath them!  A lucky 13 degenerates gathered outside for poker al fresco' on the patio - and the temperature for the most part was lovely.  It did get just a teeny bit chilly after 10:30 or so when it finally dipped below 70°.  Yours truly didn't mind because he was dealing so that kept me sweaty enough.

We also had a brand new lighting system, strategically placed LED panels worked VERY well to give us more light than we've had before under the patio cover.  What a marvelous age we live in.

Anyways, I'm getting ahead of myself, let's go back to the beginning when the sun was still out and hopes and dreams were as fresh as the 1300 chip limit set and accoutraments.

Extra work to set up, but OH so worth it!

People wandered in right on time, cards were in the air 4 and then 5 handed just after 7:30 at the red table, with yours truly slinging the cards.  Eventually others meandered their way over and we had two full tables of six apiece, perfect for playing all the games in our rotation.

The honorable el Jeffe slung the cards over at the green table, which was VERY much appreciated by this host!

In the last picture if you look at the horizon in the center of the picture you can see the moon peaking out just above the neighbors shed.  Wow!

Yours truly rode a roller coaster of variance and emotion throughout the evening, spinning up my stack quick and then shortly blasting off chips to see the mountain fall from $140+ to under $60.

Perhaps the highlight of the night for me was a hand that I didn't even play - because this is what I dealt myself in Badacey...

Wrong game!

But that's the thing about fix limit, it seems like you're not doing much - as you are very unlikely to get stacked in a single hand, unlike the big bet games - but you can do a lot of damage in short order anyways when it comes to multi-bet streets and the dreaded (though secretly loved) Kill Pots.

After a couple of hours, we were honored by the arrival of a guest from out of town (from my hometown of Berkeley actually) who will soon be moving to La-La Land (Yay!!!) the one and only Willie who has graced the garage before and cashed a bunch of checks and even broken some necks.

I guess I didn't get him on camera, but trust me - he was there and it was fantastic seeing him - I'm very much looking forward to seeing him more on the regular around these parts!

In the end I think it got a little too chilly to continue past 1am, but there were five hearty souls who did indeed make it that far, including our guest of honor.

As per usual, some left a bit up and some down, while others left with only the clothes on their backs and a song in their heart - though cash poor I'm sure they were spiritually rich from all the fellowship and fun.

Lea Anne finished well up in profit, helped along by a couple of big 2-7 hands, including her first ever "number one"!

The big winner on the night was Mr. Alan, who ended up well into 3 figure profit land.  Others on the positive side included the other Allen (notice the spelling difference) and your humble host.  After being down to almost two $20 bills, I went on a rush in a couple of draw lowball games and ended up nearly $80 in profit.  Yay.

Regardless of money results, which truthfully at these stakes is simply a way to keep score, I was definitely a huge winner.  Over 5 hours of the most fun you can have at a poker table - good friends and good times with the lightning fast pace of Limit Poker and banger after banger of different games.  Stud, draw, even a bit of drama with the good old Dramaha.

As fun as Fix Limit is, I know there's many that prefer the big balla action of big bet games, so fear not!  Next Friday we are firmly in the big bet camp with nothing but No-Limit Hold-Em until 10:30 and then an NLHE/PLO 2/1 mix after that.  Hope you can make it!

Until then, peace and we out!
