 Another week, another cash game in The Garage Around Back!  This time, it was time for the Big Mix - 22 games plus multiple variations, in a Dealer's Choice format, meaning every full orbit the next player chooses what to play.

We certainly had a full house and some fresher faces.  Ms. Sharon joined us for the third or fourth time ever, and we also had a brand spankin' new player, Mr. John L. who your humble host met at the Moose Monday night dealer's choice cash game.  A mellow dude and a very good fit for the group!  Hope you had a good ol' time sir!  Welcome to PSP!

Rounding out the group was the usual suspects - at table 1 we had Wiz, Stuve, Colin, Ian, Allen R and yours truly - plus the fresh and ready legendary Mr. M.C. - who was indeed fresh off of his most recent hip replacement surgery.  Looking great and walking very well, and most importantly almost pain free for the first time in a long time, he was a sight for sore eyes and we are all very grateful he is almost entirely back up to full speed!

Over at table two we had the aforementioned newer folks Sharon and John, plus Legacy players Priya and Jeff and soon to be Legacy player Ms. Lea Anne and future Legacy pal the venerable Mr. Alan S.  Great group who seemed to be having a great time - very boisterous over there!  As fun as table one was, I have to concede that maybe table 2 was yucking it up the most.

I can't report any hands at table 2, but I can report a whopper at table 1 in a little game called Badacey - it was won by Wiz and technically it was the first time he ever played the game!  I say technically because as you probably know, Badacey is a combo game with half the pot going to the best four card Badugi and the other half going to the best five card California low hand.  Both games Wiz has played before separately, but not at the same time.  Anyways, though the game is fix limit, the betting was capped over multiple streets and so it was one of the biggest pots of the night that Wiz dragged with this hand...

That is indeed a 65 badugi and a 65 low, two incredible hands that will always guarantee at least half the pot on their own - in this case they beat a 74 badugi and a 75 low, held by the very unfortunate Mr. Allen R who understandably was piling chips in on his way to this giant cooler.

Wiz actually won multiple unlikely pots in this game, three very big ones as I recall.  This, plus running and playing well in other games made him the night's biggest winner, cashing out almost $400 in profit.  Other winners included Mr. Colin and Mr. Alan S.  The rest as usual finished up or down a bit, and a couple folks left with dust.

Your humble host was up at or over $100 for most of the night, and then ran into it against Mr. Colin in multiple hands that had terrible runouts for our hero.  Oh poker.

In the end I was only stuck about $40 which I will absolutely take as a win - after such a fun evening in the company of such excellent and admirable fellow degenerates!

No poker next Friday.  If you are a Moose player be on the lookout for a tournament invite for that night, my understanding is that it will be their third ever SOHE event.  If you're not a mooser, you should be one!  Come on down to the lodge as my guest and play a time or two and see if it's a good fit for you!

Our next PSP poker night is our monthly No-Limit Hold-Em tournament, and is scheduled for 530pm on Saturday,  August 2nd.   As of right now, the forecast is for 90°, which means we have to play out on the patio if we want to start on time - otherwise we will have to push the start to 7pm - I'm not sure which option I want to pick - right now I'm leaning to an on time 530 start al fresco' - but I will let everyone know if that changes.  If the forecast gets any hotter we will for sure be outside either way.

Poker after that will be cash games for the 2nd, 3rd and 4th Fridays in August (8, 15 & 22) at 7pm and very likely will be on the patio - look for Fix Limit, Big Bet and Big Mix - in that order over the next month.  Very much looking forward to all of it!

Well it had been a minute since our last bout of poker at Pepper Street,   almost three full weeks!  While the World Series of Poker was great   (read all about it by clicking here) I was very glad to be back in the   cozy confines of The Garage Around Back playing poker with the   friends I know so well - as opposed to the weekend warriors of Vegas   ha ha.

 Also, this wasn't a tournament - it was a cash game!  More social, more   friendly, but no less excitement - especially with the Cadillac of poker   front and center for the evening.  No-Limit Texas Hold-Em only for the   first three hours, followed by a 2/1 orbit mix of NLHE and the mighty mighty PLO.

The line up was mostly the usual suspects, with one new addition.  Though he's been in the tournament streets at Pepper Street for awhile (most notably with a tournament win in June) this was Mark S.' cash game debut.  He, along with Art, Colin, Jeff G., Ian, Priya, Wiz, Lea Anne and yours truly - brought the fun and the action for a raucous first few hours.

We had lots of splashing around early on - with bomb pots a poppin' left and right!  Your humble host had a tough time getting things going at first...

  

As you can see, we also had the Nit Game, which kicked off at 9:30, that really ramped up the action!

It was during the Nit Game that I finally managed to start spinning up the chips.  Of course, sadly, this also meant that some players took a few hits.  As always in the course of the cash game session, some were down a little, some up a little and then there were the big winners and the couple of people who left with dust.  Oh poker!

Mark S. was looking to be the big winner, up several buy-ins early on.  Alas, he took a few hits late in the night (an especially big one against moi') but he still finished well into the black.

Mr. Art had treaded water most of the night, but thanks to several late hands - most notably QUADS in PLO, he finished well up into profit land.

Big bet and a raise and a call on the river that are out of frame, much bigger pot than what it looks like.

At midnight we were all pretty beat.  So we called it a night with one final double board PLO hand that I don't really remember because it wasn't that big of a pot (unlike previous DB PLO BPs earlier in the night!).  

Our next event is next Friday, once again cash, but this time it's the "Big Mix" - meaning all the games, both Fix Limit, Pot Limit and No-Limit - all spread in our usual dealer's choice format.  Very much looking forward to that, stay tuned for the Evite!
