15 players graced a sweltering Pepper Street garage last night for another go 'round with Texas Hold-Em.
Players were jovial, though the action was subdued up until the break with only one bust out (POY top fiver Dog) and zero re-buys.
All remaining players except the eventual tournament winner purchased an add-on, bringing the prize pool to over $700.
A final table was reached just after 10 pm, and we got down to bubble time about 45 minutes later.
Noah P. was the lucky recipient of this months bubble prize - the fantastic "Black Hawk Down" directed by Riddley Scott.
Fourth place went to Tony G. who pocketed just over $80.
Nick B., a newer player and brother of Bobby B. played patiently and well enough to take down third place for around $100.
Brand spankin' new player Jeff M., brought along by Marc F., absolutely ran over the table with expertly timed steals and just enough big hands to accumulate a monster stack.
As 1130pm approached it looked inevitable that Dan G. would succumb to Jeff's mountain of composite clay. But the poker Gods deemed otherwise. All of the chips went in and Dan G.'s dubious Q2 spiked a deuce on the flop, to shift the chip lead away from Jeff M.
With the hour late, both players agreed to an even monetary chop with Dan G. taking the extra point and trophy.
All in all a great evening. Special thanks to Marc F. for bringing in new blood and for staying late to shuffle.
A couple of news items -
Our next Tournament is Saturday, October 17th at 7pm. No Limit Texas Hold-em of course. I'm leaning towards making it a $30 freeze-out, as there were zero rebuys and the add-ons did little but delay victory by the one guy who didn't partake.
Our next cash game is Friday, October 9th at 7pm. If for some reason you are not on the cash game evite list and would like to be, please let me know. It's a $40 buy-in with mixed games, pot and fixed limits betting.
As for the World Series of Poker competition, I've received a grand total of 5 people express interest, myself included. So, I'll have to reconsider if this is worth doing at all, or perhaps doing it a different way. Stay tuned.

Crazy Cash Game Report (September '09)
A fun and fairly raucous time was had by 10 players, squeezed in around the blue home made table in a fairly balmy garage at Pepper Street.
As seems to happen in our cash games, there was probably a bit too much table talk - but everyone was good natured and seemed to take it in stride. Plenty of action with a good mix of fixed and pot limit play.
Because there were ten players, we were a little restricted in the different games we could play. Community card games dominated, with one ill-advised foray into Five Card Stud. (Note to all players: From now on, Five Stud will ALWAYS be spread as high-low with no qualifier!)
In the interests of having a good mix of games next time, I will insist on capping the game at 8 seats; and allow alternates to respond with a "maybe" on the evite. I will open up a second table only if we get a minimum of 13 players.
Though restricted to flop games, and rather crowded, things were made a lot more fun becuase it was Beatles night! In celebration of the Rock Band and re-mastered releases, we listened exclusively to the fab four (well, them and the Dodgers game). Mike P.'s dulcet tones added to the good times.
In the end, the top three finishers were yours truly, Marc F. and Mike K., with the latter barely edging out the former two to take down 5 POY points - with everyone else collecting one point for their efforts.
With such an enthusiastic response in attendance - I definitely see another cash game in the future, probably sooner rather than later. Expect it in the first half of October.
Remember, we start our WSOP competition in our next tournament. We won't have it if we don't get enough players, but I've had some enthusiastic responses. Be sure to bring an extra $25 if you want to take part!
