As you can see by the first picture I took with play underway, the garage was already cleared out of over 8 players -we started with 24 - that's because I was so excited to play that I completely forgot to take some early snaps!
We had a number of re-entries before the break, yours truly included, then after some yummy pizza (thanks to all who paid for their share) we got going and had our true first elimination with the estimable Mr. Colin bowing out with a smile and both middle fingers raised skyward.
Then play continued furiously and a bunch of others busted and we were soon down to two tables.
I could've sworn I took more than one picture when it was two tables, but apparently I didn't! I missed out on a snap of the red table, which included a new player Laura who hopefully enjoyed herself despite her pre-final table exit.
Speaking of pre-final table, yours truly was the final table bubble, with my K2 big blind shove snapped off by Mr. Allen R. in the small blind, he had K3! It actually made sense, but Julie A was aghast!
Anyways, so it was final table time.
The bust outs continued and before 930 the money bubble had burst - it was January 2020 champ Ms, Priya who felt the sting, but her beau Mr. Art was still in it...
The first to bust and get some cash for the effort was Ms. Carla - who had ducked and dodged catastrope several times but finally succumbed in 5th place for $80. She also got another $20 in bounties, noice!
A little while later Allen R bowed out in 4th for $120 plus several bounties as well.
And then it was perpetual chip stacker Jerry's turn to exit, he got $180 plus bounties for 3rd.
Julie and Art remained heads-up and decided to run the numbers for an ICM money chop - they were so close in chips that it amounted to an even chop of $320 apiece. Art had 3 bounties I think but Julie had 8! Nicely done both of you!
Julie also graciously conceded the TOC seat to Art, knowing that she is likely to take down at least a couple of tournaments in the near future I would imagine! So our official champ was...

Nicely done my friend, and well deserved! Julie as well was a wrecking ball this tournament - I love that I have great people in my game, but sometimes I wish they weren't quite as good at poker!
I kid of course, mostly, but I must say it was super groovy to get back in the groove. Another of many fun nights in the books - and looking forward to many more.
Mike P. is still holding on to his POY lead despite his early exit last night. Priya and Art are 2nd and 3rd respectively, but there's a LONG way to go in this race! Check out the Player of the Year Spreadsheet HERE. Use the widget on this blog on the right to plug in your own results to confirm or possibly correct my accuracy. Don't forget to plug in your total buy-in including any re-entries but excluding bounty costs. Remember that re-entering will greatly lower your POY points for that tournament.
I'm hoping to have 7 more events by the end of the year so we can have our TOC in January 2022.
There will be up to 10 seats awarded automatically to the winners of the 2020 (held in 2021) events. There will be another 10 seats up for grabs for the remaining POY points leaders. So if you don't win a tournament, but play enough tournaments and finish high enough, you stand a great chance of getting the TOC invite.
Right now I've got the 14th of August as our next NLHE TOC/POY official event. Before that there will likely be a WSOP Hand-Lab get together and/or a cash game or MAYBE even a non-NLHE tournament. If we do that final thing, it will be for a TOC seat and of course double POY points, but I'm not sure if I'll be able to squeeze it in. Every one will be on the Evite regardless, so keep your eyes peeled!
If for some reason you were not included on the Hand-Lab Evite, do not despair or feel slighted. Please text or email me and let me know you're interested and I'll explain what it is and of course invite you. I was a bit selective in the roster, picking just long time players and also players who have expressed an interest, I don't intend to exclude anyone, but space is limited. I also didn't want to waste people's time who I presumed wouldn't be interested, but I realize now that there might be hurt feelings and I certainly don't want that.
Alrighty, that's it for now - I will see you all on the flip-side very soon!
Until then, peace and we out!
