Three new players joined in the fray. Gareth and Alex were brought in by Sheyna and the legendary Linda was brought along by Steve S. All three were a delight to have and I hope they had fun and will come back soon.
Action was hot and heavy right from the start. So much so that two, count them two players busted before the break. Allen R. found himself looking down the barrel of a boat over boat situation and decided it was a sign to not re-enter. Don't blame him for that. The next bust out was non other than our reigning TOCchamp Nick, who arrived to the game with the sound of trumpets and a descent from on high from this lovely piece of hardware...
Nick has clearly lost his skills since last year as he was unable to fade two viscous bad beats including having his aces cracked by AQ all in pre-flop. You really need to work on your dodging cards from hell skills buddy.
Shortly before the second break, table three broke.
Less than two hours later it was final table time. For some reason I forgot to snap a pic, and it's not like I was doing anything, I had busted out ages ago.
Our unfortunate bubble boy was Dan P. who nonetheless spun the Wheel-O-Fun and won 3 special Show-Em chips for the next tournament, chips that can be used after the break!
The first to bust and get their money back was the Dog. Next out in fourth place for $140 was Eric T.
Finishing in third for $180 and a bounty or two was brand spanking new player Alex. Always a good thing when a new player makes the money!
And then there were two…
G-Bone, aka Garner had been the chip leader for the entire final table and had almost a 3 to 1 chip lead when heads up play began. But as is often the case in tournament poker, especially home tournament poker where the blinds are designed to escalate quickly and get everyone out by 1 AM at the latest, the cards had other things in mind.
Garner had to settle for second place and a $240 prize along with $20 in bounties. And it was this guy who walked away with the trophy, the TOC seat and $340 plus another $25 in bounty action.
Congratulations Ian on a well deserved win, looks like you will be facing off against your buddy Jerry as well as at least 10 other contenders next January.
A big thanks to everyone for coming out and making it such a fun time. Speaking of fun, our next multi table tournament is scheduled for Saturday March 17, same bat-time same bat-channel but not the same bat-poker! The next multi-table tournament will be that spectacular cavalcade of fun known as Omaha eight or better!
Now before you folks who think you are all that at no limit hold-em and turn your noses up at other poker variants while making dismissive snorts and rolling your eyes, just remember two things.
One, you really aren't nearly as good as you think you are in hold-em.
Two, Omaha/8 is a hell of a lot of fun, especially when it's only for 45 bucks and it's with your friends.
I really hope you'll make a good faith effort to join us even if the game is not something you play all the time. I for one can't wait!
