Another week, another spectacular cash game in The Garage Around Back! This time it was the Big Bet format - meaning good old fashioned No-Limit Texas Hold-Em for three hours, followed by introducing PLO for an orbit after every two rounds of NLHE.
We only had a single table of 8 planned, but a couple of hours in we had 9, and then later we were down to seven for a bit and then finally finished with almost two full hours of 6 max! A ton of fun and a ton of variance as well.
As usual, I came home from work just a bit early to get a jump on the set up.
As you can see, I had the Nit buttons ready to go, but the group wasn't really feeling it - a couple of players like the Nit Game the LEAST and the others seemed indifferent, so we didn't play it. Pepper Street Poker always listens to the players, you all are what make the game great!
Anyways, we started off with Allen, Lea Anne, Colin, Wiz, Ian, Mr. Vito and yours truly. Rumor was Mr. M.C. might have been inbound, but that was a false alarm. Apparently since he's doing better, he's a busy fellow! All good sir - hope you can make it next time!
Fireworks went off early when Mr. Wiz and Mr. Allen collided - the former had the Ace high flush, the latter had the BAZINGA.

After about an hour and a half of play, with a handful of bomb pots having already transpired, we were graced with two good fellows from Sherman Oaks - who heeded the call when they heard we were only seven handed - Mr. Jonathan and Mr. Ross.
After the boys arrival Jonathan chipped up quite a bit, others took hits, and before we knew it, we were using every single red chip (that would be 300 of them) and were dipping into the yellow $20s.
Yours truly had a bit of a roller coaster night - doubling up very early on and then languishing for awhile before finishing strong when we dipped into PLO after 10:30.
I especially benefitted from two biggish double board PLO bomb-pots, the cards went my way and I was able to scoop two of them. Noice.
Others, as always finished a bit up or down - while others left with crumbs. Jonathan was one of the big wieners, with over $200 in profit, along with Mr. Ian who likewise was into a healthy 3 figure upswing.
Double board PLO is a rather high variance, high action format - very grateful things went my way this time - it allowed me to be up almost $100 in profit, after being down quite a bit earlier.
Five handed play ended and the game broke at about 12:30 - another great night in the books!
Our next poker night is a return to the Big Mix format - all the games, all the limits, all the madness! This will be happening next Friday night at the usual 7:30pm. Keep your eyes peeled for the Evite. As always, there's quite a few of you I keep off the cash game invite list, as we play them all the time and I know that many of you still prefer only tournaments for some reason. If you find yourself being moved and/or interested towards trying cash game play, be sure to let me know and I will gladly add you to our cash game roster!
Speaking of tournaments, we are still on for the first Saturday in September - despite the most lackadaisical of the five tournament Moose series randomly picking that day for an event a few days ago. I always schedule around the Moose, but when they spring it on me less than two weeks out on a day that they don't usually go, I can't really reschedule. Ah well.
Still, we've got 13 so far and I hope we'll get more, very much looking forward to our monthly event. Hope you can still make it!

UPDATE - Our monthly on 9/6 is now CANCELED. Too many jumping ship for the moose, and I wouldn't mind playing myself! Hopefully I can find a Saturday that will work soon, if not in September then early on in October. Stay tuned!
