Seems like we just had a poker night - and we did, like three days ago!
But since our fabulous Moose Lodge, with it's regular Monday night cash games, is on hiatus for the WSOP, it turns out we had to host again in quick order to get that Monday Mix Madness fix!
Despite the short notice, we still managed to get 8 degenerate gamblers to join in, some Moose regulars, some not - and throw down in the low stakes big fun shenanigans of Pepper Street Cash Game Poker!
We hadn't seen Mr. Tony in awhile, so it was nice to catch up. Alas, he left even earlier than 11, as he found himself playing many (too many?) hands and ending up with dust.
The rest of us did make it to 11, and finished a bit up or a bit down - I can't remember who the big winners were, because it wasn't me, ha ha. I do remember the most fun game was probably Badacey, called by Mr. Rich, that saw everyone taken on the wild ride of variance. For the first several hands I forgot we were playing Badacey and thought we were in Baduci, so I kept throwing my aces. Ooops.
In the end, though this game was short and sweet (and I finished stuck $50) I was for sure grateful for one last warm-up dance before the big ball in Vegas for me next week.
The big highlight for your host, besides the wonderful company and the laughs, was the very last hand which was what the kids are all doing these days - a double board PLO Bomb Pot!
I was in early position and found myself flopping a top set of aces on the bottom board and a nut flush draw on the top board. I was afraid I wasn't going to get action, but Mr. Jeff obliged with double gutter draws on both boards I believe. We ran it all once for max pain and my set held and my draw hit, ship it!
This meant that instead of being stuck three figures, I was only down half a c-note. Yay!
It's going to be a minute before our next get together. The Evite for the next tournament is already out, scheduled for Aug 2 - 530pm unless it's super hot then we will push it to 7.
Our next Cash I think will be sooner, but still it's over three weeks away! It's looking like Friday, June 11 (no game this Friday or the next because of the WSOP, no game the following week because it's 4th of July!). I know by the time it finally rolls around we will all be jonesing for that Pepper Street Poker fix!
Until then, peace and we out!
