A surprisingly cool (for June) afternoon in Burbank gave way to a misty evening and 22 gamblers gathered in The Garage Out Back for another good ol’ fashioned No Limit Texas Hold-Em tournament!

| Overcast day makes for a dramatic pre-tourney shot! |
Action was hot and heavy right out of the gate, Yours truly got bitten several times early on and I found myself visiting the land of second best more than a few times. I didn’t reload but I found myself short going into the break. Two other players did re-enter and another did a stack surrender during the break.
It was a good hour after the break when the third table finally broke. The remaining 16 players bore down and got to work, the final table would be drawn at 9.
We had two entirely new players and two other players who have only come a couple of times join us, unfortunately only one of them, the brand new player Mr. Gordon, made the final table.
Also, I would be remiss if I did not mention that the evening also saw the triumphant return of the one and only Dog! It has been a while sir, so great to have you back! Dog chipped up early and kept the pressure on, easily making the final table.
And so nine of us remained and battled hard as the money approached, we were paying five players. Fortunately for me I had managed to start spinning my stack back up from the nub, and now it was quite healthy.
As we were paying five that meant it was bubble time, and most unfortunately of all, it was Mr. Dog who found himself bursting the bubble. Boo!
Next out, and the first to cash for $140 was Mr. Kyle in fifth place.
Four handed action continued for a good long while, with all of us reasonably deep, there was plenty of poker to be played.
Finally the last remaining new player, Mr. Gordon, succumbed in fourth place and pocketed $180 for his trouble. It was great having you Gordon! Come back soon and often!
Next out in third place, after a hard fought battle that included a dreadful bad beat on her final hand (AA getting run down by QJ all-in-pre), last months champ Lea Anne had to settle for third place and $240.
And then there were two…
I was happy to play, but Mr. Stephen B mentioned that all he really cared about was the seat. I had a slight chip lead, so I proposed an almost even money chop and he could have the seat. Stephen graciously allowed me the odd $20 extra and then also tipped another 20 very generously. So it was $380 for him plus the seat and jumbo metal card capper and $440 for me. Sweet! Nice mini bankroll builder for the upcoming WSOP!
And so another great evening was in the books! A huge thanks to everyone who came out and made it a great time. Especially wonderful to have new players Joey and Gordon, as well as our old friends David V and his dad Scott who have been gone for a while. And of course the return of the cool AF Dog, who always brings up the fun factor!
Our next event is the big one, the annual main event No-Limit Hold-Em tournament! It will take place on Saturday, July 15 at 1 PM. We will start with 40K in chips and play with half hour levels.
As per usual there will be a super slick trophy for the winter, not to mention extra POY points for the bigger buy-in. In previous years this event has always been double what a normal tournament costs, this year it won’t be double ($120) But rather a bit less than that at $100. There will be reentry available for a $60 if you get unlucky and bust out early. There of course will also be a cash game table set up, so hopefully people can stick around and keep playing poker even after they exit the tourney.
Very much looking forward to it, and I can’t wait to see you all. As always, the Main offers up to 40 seats, So if you know someone who is totally cool and chill and enjoys low stakes tournament poker, this is a good one to bring them to.
Very much looking forward to it, this is going to be a great summer at Pepper Street!
Until then, peace and we out!
