2022.07

Another scorcher came to beautiful Burbank - and though this time around we would be starting at a much more pleasant 5pm rather than 1pm; it still meant we had to stay outside on the patio and out of the sweat box known as The Garage Around Back.

Fortunately, as I mentioned, there's a huge difference in temperature between 5pm and last month's 1pm start time - so really it was delightful from the start.  With three full 8 handed tables in full swing right from out the gate!

As you can glean from the pictures, there were some new players among us!  3 brand-spanking new players, who all unfortunately did not cash but they all seemed like nice fellows who had a fun time.

New players are always welcome at PSP of course, just remember that if you bring a guest you are always responsible for their behavior - so make sure they are nice and chill and are your good friends  that you know well, before you invite them along!   Donavan, Dominic and Faris were all super cool and are for sure welcome back.

Speaking of friends, one of my longest known friends (since grade school when I met him in a local theater group) Mr. Kieron joined us from the Bay Area to throw down in some poker action.  He is by no means a new player, but this was likely his first time back playing cards at Pepper St. in a long time! Great having you along K-Rock!

Alas he did not cash (nor did your host) but a great time was had all the same.

Before I knew it, it was dinner break and then the sun had set, and the third table then finally broke.

Players seemed to really hang on a long time in this tournament, and it was after 9pm when the final table finally formed...

Bust outs at the FT came quick, so quick that Andrew had already busted before I had a chance to take a picture.

Lea Anne was out shortly thereafter, getting her aces cracked in dirty fashion by Mr. Ian who had started to accumulate a mountain of ceramic discs...

Before long it was bubble time, and it was the long awaited return of poker legend Jason who became our bubble boy.  Boo!

But instead of flipping the table over and leaving, as he usually does, Jason stuck around and continued to deal for the rest of the tournament!  A true mensch!  Thank you so much Jason for your kindness and your great help to the tournament!

The first to bust in the money, was last month's Main Event winner Mr. Jeff G. - who despite a healthy stack for most of the tournament, had to settle for his buy-in back, plus a bounty or two.

Next out in fourth place was the one and only newer player Mr Mike C. who is quickly becoming a legend around these parts.  This was his first cash in three tournaments, a nice double-buy-in $80 payout in fourth place plus a couple bounties.  Well done good sir!

And then there were three...

It was great to see three Legacy HOF members with several tournament wins apiece over the years, back at the top and locked in battle.

Unfortunately for two of them, the battle didn't last long.  Jerry was super short and got it in and Marc re-shoved with King Queen and Ian woke up with the mighty big slick...

And so that was that.  Mr. Jerry had to settle for $140 plus a bounty or two, Marc got $200 and this guy got $340 plus the banging' new hockey puck card protector!

Nicely done Mr. Ian - been a minute but it's great to have you back at the top of the podium.

As always a huge thanks to everyone who came out and made it a great time as always.  A thanks again to Jason for shuffling and for the top three finishers for staying to help clean up.   And don't let me forget to say an EXTRA big thanks to David V. who helped clean up A LOT while his dad Scott was still playing at the final table.  Thanks so much David, it means a lot!

Our next tournament is in September, and long time regulars know that can only mean one thing, CRAZY PINEAPPLE!

So that's basically the exact same as our regular no-limit hold-em game, but with a little twist thrown in - you get 3 hole cards and you must discard one hole card after the flop.   It plays almost exactly like the usual, but there's bigger hands at showdown.

Also, the world famous Tiki King Chips (along with awesome Tiki Poker Plaques) will be in play, don't miss them!

This event will take place on Saturday, September 3rd at 5pm - so it's coming up quick!  Hope to see you there!

Until then, peace and we out!
