The most divine afternoon I can remember in a long time, with a mild overcast and a slight breeze and the temperature just perfect, unfolded in beautiful Burbank and made for a fantastic setting for our monthly MTT event.
There were only 19 runners and we played with three tables, making for exciting short handed play and no less than six re-entries before the break - one hour and forty minutes past starting time.
Allen R was the FT bubble, and all of the stacks were fairly even and short except for Priya and Jeff G, who both were very deep. Priya had benefited early on from an all in three-way hand, where she had a boat over the nut flush over two pair. As for Jeff, I was not at his table, but I assumed that people had been donating to him ha ha.

Unfortunately it was a nasty bubble, with Jerry being the recipient of the broom handle treatment. Flopping two pair only to be run down by a bigger two pair on the river.
Finishing in fifth for an $80 payout was Mr. Jeff S.
Next out in fourth, for $120, was the photographer Mr. Ian.
And then there were three, Priya, Jeff G, and myself. I had managed to grind up a fairly sizable stack and Priya found herself third and chips and eventually out in third place for 160 plus another $20 in bounties.
With the departure of her and Arthur, the latter who had dealt the entire final table up to that point (thank you so much for that Art!) it was just Jeffy and me. He still had a pretty decent chip lead, but it wasn’t overwhelming.
Since I already have my TOC seat locked up and blinds were high, I proposed to Jeff an even chop of the money for $300 apiece which included our bounties, and I conceded the seat and the jumbo card capper trophy to him. Jeff happily accepted, and he becomes our fourth tournament winner of the year.
Huge thanks to everyone who came out, including brand new player Mr. Mike C. He’s attended a couple cash games already, this was his first tournament. Thanks for bringing in new blood Mr. Colin!
The most likely date for our next monthly event is Saturday, June 26 at our usual 5 PM. Hope to see you all there! Before that there will be a cash game or two on Wednesday nights, and perhaps a single table tournament sprinkled in there as well.
Sunday, June 5 at 1 PM is our First Annual Legacy Hall of Fame Invitational tournament, for Hall of Fame members only. It’s an $80 mix game event and should be pretty amazing. VERY much looking forward to that one!
