It was particularly hot and nasty this past week in Burbank, but thankfully when the weekend rolled around it finally started to cool off. Though it was divine in the evening, the garage was still pretty warm in the day as I set everything up for poker - including this beautiful new addition.

For once players didn't mind drawing the second table, and the evening got underway at 7pm sharp. 14 enthusiastic playas shuffled up and dealt with it.

Since we had less players than usual, the final table formed early, almost a full round before the second break. Thanks in no small part to this delightful cooler.

And then there were 10. For just this once, and I say only once because the chairs aren't set up properly for a smooth redraw (plus the camera is in the wrong spot) - we decided to make the new table the final table.

Plenty of people were deep, but it was not to last, as the blinds slowly climbed. The bubble approached at just after 10:30, and it was newish player Evan B. who managed to hang on long enough to collect his buy in back in fourth place.
Finishing in third for double his buy-in was perpetual cashing machine Dan G., who in addition to his recent 1st place finish in a Pepper Street SNG has also been second or third for 4 out of the last six monthly tournaments.
And then there were two - the poker puzzle that is Julie A. and yours truly. Julie is for sure one of the better players in the garage, she plays a speculative but aggressive style very well and is a very tough opponent. I was not super confident going into heads up, even with a decent chip lead, as I knew nothing was locked up by any means.
Thankfully though for me, Julie got card dead rather quickly and I got smacked by the deck. In the end, it was my favorite hand, Jack King Off (suit) that won the evening.

Julie scooped up second place monies of $140 plus another $25 in bounty action. I was very excited and humbled to take down the $200 first place cash plus another 20 spot in bounties, plus the trophy and the seat in January's free roll.
A big thanks to both Jeremy D. and Dan G. who both stayed after they busted and helped shuffle; it really cannot be overstated what a huge pain in the ass it is to shuffle AND play short handed or heads up. It really makes all the difference to have a non-player handle the card randomizing duties. Thanks fellas!
One note of note: our WSOP rep Stephen B. has selected June 21st as his day to play in a $1500 event - I would like very much to make it out to support him, and I hope some of you can as well.
