| Fire hazard? Nah.
The massive surge in numbers may or may not have had to do with the return of Tom L. - fresh off of CASHING in the World Series of Poker and bringing monies to much of the field. Like the Easter bunny, Tom L. pranced about and made it rain crisp $50 dollar bills on all the WSOP satellite participants who happily took the free roll for the nights tourney.
As for all the folks who hadn't played in the satellite, their glum faces let me know that next year they would for sure reconsider their non-degeneracy ways, find a pair and play in the WSOP satty!
And if last night's money parade wasn't incentive enough for you non-WSOP types to take a shot in 2014, wait till' you read Tom L.'s epic write up of the event! I can't wait to post it here, along with the other spectacular reports from various PSP playas. Good stuff! Stay tuned!
I should also mention that the second reason for more bodies was that we had two new players, David L. - brought along by Jeff S. And Andrew R. - dragged kicking and screaming to come play by Allen R. and Julie A. A big thanks to all my PSP peeps for bringing in new blood!
Alas, the money bubble this time around was my own flesh and blood, my brother, the good Doctor David. Finishing next for a little bit more than his money back was poker savant Josh F.
Out next in quick succession in 6th and 5th place respectively was Mike K. and Jeff S. who both took home double their buy in, plus some bounties. Jeff's finish puts him atop the POY race, which is still tight enough to be interesting.
Speaking of interesting, there was this hand at the final table. I don't remember who was in it, which is probably for the best, but it was All In Pre-Flop. Pretty damn sick and also super standard.
Next out in 4th place, cashing for $100 plus $40 in bounties was Julie A.
Three handed play continued for a bit until Dog D. succumbed to a nasty beat or two and pocketed $160 plus $15 in bounties for third place.
The hour was late, 12:25am, when Mike P. proposed an even money chop to new player Andrew R. who happily accepted. They both took home $300 and assorted bounties - and after a thorough chip count, Andrew eked out Mike for the extra POY point and the super dope fly PSP trophy!
Well done new guy! As every decent poker host knows, the best thing in the world (besides Barb's brownies) is a new friendly player who takes it down his first time out. This is indeed a beautiful thing. The hooks are in Andrew, now all you have to do is come back over and over again and make easy money every time!
A big ass thanks to one and all who made it out last night, it was a truly great time with so many awesome gamblers to hang with. Can't wait for the next one!
Also, as I mentioned earlier, stay tuned for a super-ultra-mega-awesome World Series of Poker report from all of the PSP horses, including the much anticipated tale of how poker genius Tom L. managed to do what so many of the rest of us (Eric T. excepted) have failed at - CASH at the WSOP!
Until then, peace and we out.
