PSP WSOP 2013.02

It was a balmy Memorial Day weekend evening that saw 10 hardcore degenerates return for a second chance at a seat in the 2013 World Series of Poker!

Back for more punishment!

After a surprise meal of delicious pulled pork sandwiches, prepared expertly by my better half, we sat down at about quarter to six and commenced with the gambool.

Unlike last time I was NOT the first to bust.  I was second.  First to hit the rail was Bobby B. who did so gracefully.  I did as well, pretty much, though I could not help but remind everyone that the second place finisher would win the same thing as Bobby and me, which was nothing.  No, I wasn't bitter at all.

Tony's Poker face.

Play continued on into the night, the stakes of course were slightly higher and so the game was all that more intense.  Thankfully I had put up a gang of new signs to help lighten the mood and provide instruction.
Looks like a TGI Friday knockoff, but less classy.

Poker, so simple really.
A sign that was long overdue.
The evening stretched on, but I could tell that with less players and less chips in play than the last satellite, that we likely wouldn't go far beyond midnight - and it turned out I was exactly WRONG.  Play concluded at 11:58 and here is a detailed report of how it went down.

Our final four was Stephen B., Jason H., Marc F. and Mike P. - and they went out in that order.   This is the dude that won.

Mike P. has at last added the last piece of the puzzle at PSP, after winning Player of the Year twice and also taking down more tournaments than anyone else, he is finally on his way to Vegas to represent Pepper Street in the big dance. Well done Mike!

A special thanks to Jason for providing groovy tunes and shuffling the heads up portion of the evening, and also a big thanks to everyone else who came out to give it another shot.  Mike is an outstanding player and I feel very confident that our investment has a better than good chance at being returned.

Alas, I will not be able to make it to the WSOP for the first weekend in June after all.  Jason H. and Tom L. will be there that weekend however, the former playing in the llam Millionaire Maker Saturday event and the latter in Sunday's noon 1K bracelet tournament.

Mike P. hasn't let me know when he's going, but he indicated it will be toward the second half of the series, which is when I will be there if I am able to make it.  Jeff G. has also indicated the same time frame.  Both of you guys, as soon as you set a date be sure to let me know!  I would love to come out and harass you both relentlessly from the rail.

And speaking of the WSOP, it's less than 2 weeks away!  It's a great time of year to be playing tournament poker, I look forward to another great time - not only following the pros and their adventures, but our own PSP professionals, FOUR of them! Who will be gunning for glory and doing us all proud.

Our next regular Pepper Street tournament is the second Saturday in June, the 8th, at 7pm.  Can't wait!
