18 players found their way to the garage around back on Pepper Street on a balmy April night.
Action was hot and heavy as well, with several rebuys (but no busts) before the break. First to hit the rail in horrific fashion (hitting the flop as a 75% favorite against a trash hand and then falling to a runner runner clubs after all the money was in) was Marc F.
As per usual, the busts started with a trickle and sped up into an avalanche, with the final table forming just after 10 pm.
This time I remembered to start recording and you can watch most of the final table above.
Yours truly popped the bubble after running into premium cards for the umpteenth time, AK and QQ respectively on the last hand for good measure.
2011 POY Dog D. notched his first cash of the year, finishing fifth and getting his monies back.
John S. was next to hit the rail, doubling his buy-in for fourth place.
His partner in crime, Bill K., finished third and took home $100.
And then there were two. Two new players!
Ark has played with us once before, and found himself with a mountain of chips as heads up began, but after a couple of drastic swings he had to settle for second place and $200.
Taking it down was brand spanking new player, but obviously not new to poker, R.J. He snagged $300 and the PSP trophy! Well done R.J.!
A huge thanks to Barbara, she of the WSOP seat, for bringing the friendly R.J. on board. Since he ran good, played good and took it down - I know he'll be back for more, hopefully sooner rather than later.
A big thanks also goes out to my man Allen Q. who despite a long ride ahead of him back to Palmdale, still pitched in to shuffle and shuffle and shuffle for the final four players. You rock dude!
Our next tournament is scheduled for Saturday night, May 26th at 7pm. Stay tuned for the evite.
There will very likely be a cash game in the first half of May, almost certainly on a Friday night. Remember, it is a single table only and PSP regulars get the first invite.
For those wanting to know, it looks like Barbara will be at the WSOP the weekend of June 9/10 while Allen R. will be playing the following weekend with his event falling on the 17th. Dog D. will also be there that weekend, playing the seniors tournament (you don't look 50 dude!) on the 15th.
It looks pretty unlikely for me to make either of those weekends, but I HIGHLY encourage any and all of you with a stake on these horses to make the trip out and lend support. If you've never been to the WSOP, it's a tremendous thing to behold, even if you're not playing - and showing up to cheer someone on who is playing for the first time makes a huge difference to them and the experience even more memorable.
