T2011.2 - 01/29/2011

For the second time in one month, poker enthusiasts gathered (this time 17 in all) in the garage out back at Pepper Street for some good old fashioned No Limit Hold-Em tournament play.

Tight play ruled the first half of the evening as it was after nine when we had our first casualty, Marissa C. who was unable to hit the flop with her suited over cards against a middle pair. It was after 10pm when Dog D. became our final table bubble.

Nine players hunkered down, and while there was some poker left to be played, the structure left zero maneuvering room for mid to small sized stacks, and soon it was time for them to chip up or get out.

Robert A. managed to hang on, but got tangled up in a pot that saw his opponent bink the river and send him to the rail. Fortunately for Robert, the rail was stocked with DVD's - and he took home a wrapped Simpsons Season 5 set.

Marc F. was the first to make the money, getting his buy in back for finishing 6th.

John S. collected $60 in 5th place, as his short stack finally succumbed.

Tony G., who originally wasn't coming due to family obligations, managed to pry himself away and arrive shortly before the first break and parlay his chips into a 4th place finish and a $75 payout.

Yours truly finished third and took home (oh wait, I already was home) $100.

Energetic and aggressive, the gamble savvy Jeannie N. took down second place and pocketed $170. She was unable to overcome the mountainous stack of Bill K. who took the trophy and $230 first place prize money.

Looks like we have a window at the end of February for a tournament - so save the date! Saturday, February 26th @7pm. Hope to see you there!
