Once again, it was Friday and time for Cash Game action! This time around it was BIG BET night - which means No-Limit Hold-Em exclusively for the first three hours. With PLO thrown in after 1030.
With 13 gamblers scheduled, the room was set with two tables ready for action. Two players had to withdraw, so we we had the lovely number of 11 (it's ALWAYS 11 lol) and that was just fine for two tables, of 5 and 6 respectively.
As detailed in the previous post, my two monster 96" tables have reached the end of their journeys and the new tables are only 84". That means 10 (and certainly 11) handed play is entirely a thing of the past.
Yes the big door was open for most of the night - and it was positively lovely.
Jeff G, Wiz, Teresa, Allen R. and Jason (who dealt his table expertly) were found at the blue table. Yours truly dealt over at the red table to Lea Anne, Peter, M.C., Ian and Mr. Colin.
There was no shortage of action at either locale - with chips flying in all directions for the better part of well over three hours.
Eventually the dust settled with a couple players up quite a bit - others were stuck and a couple departed for the night, so the remaining 9 could form up at a single table and go right into the universally loved Nit Game. (Ok, maybe not universally loved lol). We mixed in PLO afterwards, every third orbit. This game of course saw some of the night's biggest pots.
Unfortunately, Mr. Jason was the Nit of the night, and owed everyone two bucks. Fortunately for him, he would still finish up for the night - unlike your humble host who finished (just after midnight, no 2am session this time) stuck a bill and a half. All good - the company and laughs were well worth it.
Also up pretty big on the night was Mr. M.C. - a welcome win for a man who is getting a hip replacement next Friday, please keep him in your prayers. I know he'll do great and I very much look forward to him skipping and sashaying into the garage the next time he comes. We love you Mr. M.C.!!
Speaking of M.C., we finished off the night with a double board PLO bomb pot, M.C. won half of a rather ginormous pot. Wiz (I believe) scooped up the other half - putting him ahead for the night as well. Nicely done, the both of youse!
As always, a huge thanks to everyone for coming out and making it a great time as always. The best times ever in the garage are always cash games, even when I "lose" I'm absolutely a winner in every way that matters.
Our next Friday night event will be our first ever "Big O" tournament! I hope we get a full table or more, but I know it will be fun no matter what.
There's no poker scheduled for the following Friday night, the 25th. The wife and I will be resting up for the big day on Saturday the 26th - we will be participating in the "Purple Stride" in Santa Monica. A 5K walk to raise funds for the fantastic organization PanCAN, the preeminent pancreatic cancer group that advances scientific research, builds community, shares knowledge and advocates for patients.
We would love to see you there in person of course, but if you can't make it, a small donation to Beverly's Unicorn Warriors team would be greatly appreciated! I will share the fundraising link on our Facebook group soon. If we are friends on Facebook you can find the fundraiser on my wall as well.
Poker will return the following Saturday, May 3, with our usual good old fashioned No-Limit Texas Hold-Em tournament. I'm hoping to get in a pre-tourney cash game, stay tuned for both evites!
Until then, peace and we out!
