Although it dipped down into the 30s as evening fell, inside The Garage Around Back it was actually quite pleasant, crammed full of degenerate gamblers (20 of em’) and the Holiday Spirit!
Spirits were indeed buoyed, from both the lotto scratchers and the annual reappearance of the O.G. PSP poker chips!
Also, as you may notice in the last pic, it was the first ever annual PSP Bomb Pot Mania Tournament! Plus it was Christmas themed - so that meant that whenever Santa (aka a Red King) appeared on the flop, turn or river, the next hand would be a Bomb Pot! That is, every player puts in one big blind, the cards are dealt and we go straight to a flop! The hand proceeds normally from that point on.
You would think that this would mean complete chaos, but actually it was not nearly as disruptive as it was a hell of a lot of fun! We toned down the BP frequency post break, dispensing with the Red King system and switching to a timer that randomly went off every 16 to 20 minutes. This was a lot less devastating to shorter stacks.
Soon after break we started losing players. The first to go was 1st time PSP player AJ, who also happens to be my nephew! He was not at my table, but I understand that he got thrown into the deep end with some of the sharks. Hope you still had a good time my man!
Other family members included my father-in-law Paul and my brother-in-law David G. Both unfortunately did not cash, but hopefully both had fun!
After we were down to 16 we went to two tables and play continued.
As you can see, Colin took the last couple of pictures from the rail. Very much appreciated my friend! The good news for him and other bust outs was that a cash game got underway. They even texted Lea Anne to come back from her house and play and she did!
In the meantime, yours truly finally made a final table after a several month long drought.
We were paying five players and the unfortunate bubble boy this time around was Mr. Jerry.
Busting next in fifth place and cashing for double the buy-in, that would be $80, was Ms. Sheyna, getting back in the money habit after only her second appearance since her return.
Jeff S was next to fall, after expertly rocking his short stack into the money. He collected $120 in fourth place.
Yours truly had high hopes for this one, but had to surrender in third place for $160 after my aces got cracked by Randalls miracle flopping of two pair. I did not raise pre-flop, so yes, it was pretty much on me.
And then there were two…
