We have been averaging 20 or so players ever since we started back up last summer, but last night it was clear that something has changed, as the dam broke and we had no less than 30 gamblers crammed into The Garage Around Back!
Players were also delighted, I would assume, with new and the dazzlingly beautiful Super Mario chips in play!
From the beginning the action was hot and heavy, with no less than seven reentries! When we got back from pizza there was a hefty prize pool with over $400 on top and six people getting paid.
Still, it was a while before we broke the third table. As I recall, it was just before the second break, almost a full 2 1/2 hours into the tournament.
The good news, for the players that did bust, is that a cash game once again started up. I was still playing in the tournament so I couldn’t quite see what they were doing, but it appeared from a distance to be a friendly low buy-in slugfest.
Myself, I got hit by the deck in the face, so I was in very good shape as the final table formed just after 9pm.
Two of the new players made the final table, Mr. Travis and Mr. Anthony. Unfortunately, neither of them cashed - boo.
Our bubbler was poker player extraordinaire and my neighbor Lea Anne.
Finishing next in sixth for his money back ($40) was Travis’ brother Kyle.
Busting in fifth place for $100 and $15 in bounties was Legacy player Mr. Allen R.
Out next, final table regular Mrs. Kat got $140 plus a bounty or two.
Myself, I had been running absurdly hot, so when I made a mistake opening on the button with junk, not realizing I wouldn’t be able to fold if Ms. Priya jammed, it surprised absolutely no one when my garbage cards ran down Priya’s good holdings. Priya had to settle for third place and $240 and the knowledge that 82 off suit had ended her tournament.
And then there were two. Yours truly and our most recent Legacy Hall of Fame inductee - Mr. Colin.
I had probably a five to one chip lead, so I proposed splitting the remaining money evenly, provided I got 1st place points, and Colin graciously agreed. We each got $390 plus both of us kept our bounties which were not a small amount.

Once again, I feel utterly humbled and blessed to have not only finished first in a tournament full of formidable opponents, but to have won in life by having the best home game on the planet full of truly great people that I am honored to call friends.
Our next tournament is a month away, mark your calendar’s for April 16 at 5 PM. The game will be Omaha 8! The Evite will go out today so be sure to let me know if you don’t receive it.
In between there will be cash games on the first and third Wednesday of the month, keep your eyes peeled for those Evites as well.
