2019.05-A HORSE

It had only been a week since our previous monthly event, but it turned out that May the 4th was the perfect day to have - ANOTHER ONE!   This time it was HORSE, and though the numbers were smaller (only 14 runners) the fun was bigger than ever!

Our latest Legacy inductee.

America's favorite poker game!
It was well after the first break that we had our first bust out, Ms. Julie G. took the first out chip and spun the wheel for a chance at $180 and instead took home a fabulous deck of cards.   Next tournament the wheel is up to $200!  Our highest jackpot ever!   It will stay at $200 until someone takes it home!

Almost two hours after our first bust out it was final table time - 8 handed.

Fixed limit tournaments are inevitably card-centric, if you don't run good you ain't gonna win, even more so than the typical No Limit Hold-Em tournament.  I held on to a stub of a stack right up to the bubble, and unfortunately with an open ended straight draw, and a flush draw and a draw to the second nut low, I couldn't get there against Frank who ended up knocking me out on the bubble AND taking home the $180 last longer bet!  Not a bad return for a $20 investment.

I'm a big fan of last longer bets, and I think these will now become a permanent fixture in our non Hold-Em events, the numbers are always lower and I can get more players with a $40 entry, adding another $20 for those who want to gambool makes it a bit more spicy and fun for us hard core degenerates.   Regular monthly No Limit Hold-Em events will remain Last Longer free.

Dan G. busted out just after I did, taking home his money back and a hearty handshake and a laurel for his trouble.

And then there were three...

Still America's favorite, even short handed and with trip deuces!
The hour really wasn't that late, but the overwhelming chip leader had a show to go to - so he was eager to chop.  We ran the ICM numbers and Barb and Jerry got a bit more and Frank got a bit less, but most importantly Frank got the TOC seat!

This is Frank's second HORSE win at PSP in three years - clearly he's the mix games guy!  Congrats!

So as for another tournament in May - I don't know when we are going to squeeze it in.  A large part of me wants to do it next Saturday, so that very well may happen.  If it does, the evite will be much later than usual, probably Monday or Tuesday.  Don't know for sure yet, but pencil in the date!   I will let you all know as soon as I can!

Until then, peace and we out!
