2019.01

A cool afternoon eventually gave way to a brisk evening as for the first time ever the Saturday 'night' tournament started at 5pm in The Garage Around Back!

As always there was some cool stuff on hand -

Unique trophy.
Oreo Abomination of the Month
Collectable Chip - now newly un-PC
It was a new starting time and also a new structure for PSP.   Four 25 minute levels before break, the last level and every level thereafter with a Big Blind Ante.   It's now the industry standard - deal with it!   Complaints were far and few if any, anyways.

Action was hot and heavy, but despite the BBA in play on level four, we only had one bust-out (and only because he didn't feel like re-entering, a perfectly fine choice that I wish I had made many times) - Mr. Dan L. gave a fond farewell just before 7pm and then it was pizza time.

Jeff G.'s better half Christie also dropped off some bomb ass Med cuisine - thanks Christie!

I would also be remiss if I didn't say a huge thanks to everyone who bought GS cookies from the kid - once again PSP really outdid themselves; you guys bought 71 boxes!  Jeff S. was the leader with 20 boxes altogether!  Nice!

And then we were back at it.

The third table broke just after 8pm - structure seems almost perfect.  Unfortunately yours truly was an early exit, but that allowed me to concentrate on being a good host - which is also rewarding in it's own way.

Around 930 it was final table time.  I was dealing so I didn't have time to snap a picture right away, this first shot is after a few had already left.

This is actually the 'in the money' gang.
Josh and Garner just missed the cash - both busting out on the same hand.  Garner had more in chips so he got to spin the wheel and won the right to pick his seat at the next MTT.

Julie G. busted next to get $80 for sixth place.

Finishing in fifth for $120 was Allen R., followed a few hands later by Jerry who pocketed $160 and some bounties in fourth place.

And then there were three...

Newly inducted Legacy player Mike P. finally succumbed to his card-deadness and busted in third for $200.

And then there were two...

The heads up battle lasted almost 40 minutes!  Longer than 5, 4 and 3 handed play!

In the end it was this crucial hand that put Eric on life support...

Flushed out baby.  Also nice 25K chippies!
With Eric down to the nub, he offered Stephen B the seat for an even split of the monies, which Stephen graciously agreed to.  Each player took $330 each.  Eric had about $20 in bounties I think but Stephen the Beast had collected 9 which gave him his full buy in back!  Noice!  He almost caught Bobby's bounty record of 10, next time!

It should be noticed that this is Eric's second runner up finish in two massive events - congrats Eric, you are running and playing extremely well!

All in all another great night.

Special thanks to Stephen S for bringing in newish blood - legendary LA Rounder Linda and his good buddy Stephen BC, who is back on the good list after failing to show up to a tourney last year.   He missed a tourney awhile back, just forgot, but also forgot to get ahold of me.  I naturally lost his email, but he was back last night and eager to rejoin the fun so all is forgiven and we hope to see him soon.

Our next one was possibly going to be next weekend - but that's just too much for this old boy to take.  28 players is a lot to handle, I need a break!

The next big tournament will be on Saturday, March 16 at 5pm and will be fixed-limit Omaha Eight or Better!   This is our third annual event, which always happens in March.  Looking forward to it! Stay tuned for the Evite.

Until then, peace and we out!
