2018.04

An unseasonably hot afternoon gave way to an unlikely muggy evening and the door was wide open at the Garage Around Back for the entirety of the fourth monthly event at PSP in 2018.

There was yet another new set of chips in play.  Yes, I know, I have a problem.  But these are my first set of Paulson chips and they are gorgeous!  I know, WTF is a 'Paulson'?  Paulson is THE casino chip company in the United States and their product is typically not available to the general public.  My recent rabbit hole descent into PokerChipForum.com made this acquisition possible and I was unable to resist.

Speaking of chips, there was also this month's collectable.

I know many of you have asked and received collectable chips from tournaments you were unable to attend.  I am happy to give out my leftovers to long time players who ask nicely, but you should know that I only make 30.  27 to give out, and 3 to hold onto for the future (more on that future some other time).  When we have a full tournament, as we did last Saturday night, it is very likely that all the chippies will be gone by the time you ask.  The best way to insure that you 'collect 'em all' is to be at every Saturday tournament!  :)

Another item that you don't want to miss is our Oreo cookie club monthly selection, this time around it was a doozy!

Action got underway promptly at 7 and it wasn't but a few levels that we had our first bust - new player Brian JC who Sheyna brought in.  We hate when a new guy busts, especially 1st out!  He spun the Wheel-O-Fun and gets to pick his seat should he ever return to a Saturday monthly.  I hope he does!

Jacob - "Really?"

The first break came and went and it was just before the second interlude that the third table broke.  No I mean it almost literally broke, everyone at the green table had decided tonight was the night they were going to donate all of their chips to Kyle.  I had to move the players because the table was tipping over under the weight of his massive stack.

Pic doesn't do it justice - it went up even more after this. Keep in mind that every player only gets 2 orange chips.
As the 3rd break approached, it was final table time.  Along the way this happened...

Allen R. spikes the Royal!  Pretty sure this is the first one ever in over 10 years at PSP.

The bubble approached and then burst as Barbara was the unlucky bubbler.

Or was she?

She spun the Wheel-O-Fun and HIT THE JACKPOT!!!!   $180 went her way and she whooped and hollered and flipped the bird and made it rain dollah dollah bill's y'all!!!!

Ahem.  Jacob, a second time player whose better half took down last December's tournament, was next out, getting his buy-in back and exiting graciously, only one middle finger in the air.  Jacob and Julie are so far 2 for 2 in making monies!

Next to bust was Dog who collected $120 I think, for 4th place.

Long time PSP vet Dan G. busted next, he only had to fade a few outs on the river to get a huge double up but it was not to be - as the dreaded card spiked and he had to settle for $180 and third place.

After a brief heads up battle, the one time chip monster known as Kyle ended up in second place of $300 plus a GANG of bounty chips, tying Bobby B.'s long standing record.

And so first place went to this new but very friendly fellow!

New, but not new to poker obviously, Stephen BCH (sorry Steve we already have a different Stephen B who is a regular) was as kind and as charming as he could be as he mercilessly plundered chips from people left and right and finished on top.  He took home $400 for his work plus most of the remaining bounties that Kyle hadn't taken.   Well done Stephen!

The river was this...

And then I found this in the leftover cards...

So the River Jackpot rolls over to the next Saturday tournament - $51 is in the envelope right now, another 25 or so players next time and we will be around $75!  Noice!

The Wheel-O-Fun Jackpot reverts to $20.  Boo.

As always, a big thanks to everyone who came it out and made it such a fun time.  A thanks to Steve and Sheyna for bringing in new blood.  Steve, we like Stephen a lot, but he's awfully good at poker ha ha!

The next Saturday event is looking like it will be on May 19, save the date!

Until then, peace and we out!
