WSOP SATELLITE 2015

It was that time of year again, time for Pepper Street Poker to host a satellite tournament for entry into the World Series of Poker!

9 confident players entered the terror-dome at 1pm and only one would emerge victorious, battered but unbroken at just before 8pm.

The buy in was steeper than a usual PSP tournament, but this was for a $1500 seat into a bracelet event.  Dog tried to get around it by entering with Canadian money...

But then he remembered that the US dollar no longer kicks the Canadian dollars butt, so he switched out for good old US greenbacks, and we were on our way!

Yours truly was the first to bust, not letting the fact that I had nearly 100 big blinds stop me from getting my entire stack in pre-flop with KK.  Stephen B. of course had the rockets and that was that.  Nope, not in my DNA to get away from this sort of thing I'm afraid, especially against a capable and aggressive opponent.  Oh well.

So the battle continued on into the afternoon and then the evening.  Soon enough, we were down to three - and it was to be a battle of the beards.

Bobby B. made some extraordinary and needless to say correct lay-downs throughout the tournament, but finally was unable to extract himself from yet another cooler - losing with his straight to an unlikely full house.  And then there were two.

As you can see, Eric had an all but insurmountable chip lead, at the end over 8 to 1, and it was simply too much for Allen to overcome.  The last hand was an AJ vs AQ cooler and we had our champion and our representative for Vegas.

Pimps up, hoes down.

The good news is, Eric has not only been down this road before, he has also made the money in the WSOP before as well.  As you probably know, the PSP satty representative gets to keep 60% of any cash collected in Vegas, the rest is divided evenly among the satellite participants.  It really is a great way to keep things positive for everyone and foster the encouraging spirit of our little game.

A big congratulations Eric!  Well played and very well deserved.  Run good, play good, have fun!  Hopefully I and others will be able to sweat you from the rail in person.

As of right now Mike P., Tony G., Allen Q., Jason H. and myself plan to be at the WSOP on the weekend of June 12/13.  Hopefully Eric can make that one as well, but whatever event he picks, you can bet we will all be rooting him on.

UPDATE:  Eric has booked his trip for the same weekend as the rest of us!  June 12/13 is the time and place to be in the Vega$!  Hope more of you can come along for the shenanigans.
