Back to No Limit Hold-Em!
20 players, including two new faces to Pepper St. - Daniel M. and Ethan F. - sat down to enjoy several hours of the good old same old.
Allen R., PSP's very own kid poker, was first to hit the rail after multiple rapid fire coolers took away his buy-in and re-buy before the first break.
The next bust didn't come till well after the break, and from there as usual built from a trickle to a fury by quarter to 11 when we reached our final table.
The DVD recipient, who took home all 3 volumes of the Lord of the Rings Extended Edition (that's over 12 hours of movie and 30 hours of special features people!) was newcomer Daniel M. I believe his exact words were "Screw the money, I came to this game because of the DVD treasure trove!"
Our money back "bubble" was non other than the very lovely and very pregnant Aredelle P.
Next to go was her husband, who ran his queens unluckily into Dog's kings. Noah P. picked up $75 for the bad beat and only flipped one table on the way out. (Just kidding, both he and Ardelle stayed to watch and Ardelle helped shuffle - a big thanks for that!)
Then there were four, two female and two male. It should also be noted that the final 6 was also 3 boys vs. 3 girls. My game is cool and happening!
Out in fourth place for $100 was gamble-tastic poker player extraordinaire Jeannie N.
Finishing in third place was the always way too humble Barbara N. who was simply amazed that she had cashed - I had to remind her that she's cashed plenty of times, including this year and is now in fact in the top five for points. She is also $130 richer.
Speaking of Player of the Year points, Dan G. finally succumbed to the monster stacken of the Dog and pocketed $180 in second place monies and firmly planted himself in the top 5 in points as well.
But it was Dog D. who made the biggest impact in the POY race - meaning, he's actually made it a race. Marc F. had what seemed to be an insurmountable lead, but then finally missed this tournament, and his next closest competitor took it down for $280 and the trophy! The tournament ended at 12:10am, not too late!
Now Dog has 165, Marc, who has indicated he may miss the next tourney as well, has 175. So there is a chance Dog!
Speaking of next time, it will be on November 20th at 7pm on a SUNDAY night - a friend from Berkeley is in town and has no local game up north so he is DYING to play some pokerz. It will be a tournament - though it will be just a freeze out for $30 with cash game action afterwards.
The final tournament of the year will be the first or second Saturday night of December.
Hope to see you on both nights!
