A great time was had by 16 players in the annual PSP H.O.R.S.E. tournament, the first of three double Player of the Year point events.
A big thank you is in order to all who participated, for taking the time to become familiar with how fixed limit mixed games work, and allowing me to concentrate primarily on my playing! Thank you, thank you, thank you!
I got lucky and woke up with Kings in Hold-em and crippled Jason H. who eventually was first to hit the rail. (Though we don't really have a rail.) He was gracious as always and only flipped over one table.
Play continued for awhile thereafter, and as with all limit tournaments eliminations started very slowly and then all of the sudden (for us at around the third hour) rapidly accelerated.
It was just before 11 when the bubble burst, and believe it or not, it wasn't me this time! Amy L. broke my dubious streak, and as a newish player to Pepper Street, was pleasantly surprised that there was actually a legitimate bubble prize. (Even though this was her third tournament, she's only ever seen me as bubble boy.) She took home the film "The Motorcycle Diaries" which I have not seen, but as it's about Che' Guevera, I'm sure it's a real knee slapper.
Fourth place and $60 went to long time PSP player and Omaha enthusiast Tom L.
Third place went to none other than me - I was unable to overcome the monstrous stacks of David M. and Nick B., but was more than happy with the $87 I got.
In the end, the tournament finished just before 11:30 (I've said it before and I'll say it again, I have the most perfect limit tournament structure in the universe, if only my NL structure was as good) with the good doctor David M. relinquishing his remaining chips to Nick B. after a short but intense battle.
David M. pocketed $120 and Nick B. took home $220 and the beautiful and unique for the year golden H.O.R.S.E. trophy - which was literally in the shape of a horse.

Our next Summer Madness tournament, for double POY points, will be exclusively fixed limit and exclusively the legendary game of Omaha Eight or Better!
This will be a $30 freeze-out with no re-buys or add-ons and no bounty game.
