There will be a poker tournament at Pepper St. on Saturday night, November 22 at 7pm. We will be playing a mixed game tournament, alternating 20 minute rounds of No Limit Hold-em and Pre-flop Pot Limit Omaha/8.
The former game is one we're all familiar with, the latter is also familiar but with a tweak of my own. Before the flop, we will play Omaha/8 as Pot Limit, meaning that you can only raise the amount of the current pot - and after the flop we will play No Limit. We play this way pre-flop so we can see more flops, and have more strategy, and we switch to No Limit on fourth street so we don't have to worry about the math in regards to multiple split and side pots.
As per usual, this will be a $10 event with unlimited re-buys before the break and a single add-on afterwards. We will be sticking with last month's structure. I thought it was fantastic and felt a lot more like a real live tournament structure. Click on the NL Structure link on the link list to the right to check it out. $10 for 1500 in chips, you can rebuy with 500 or less. The add-on is $10 for 2000 in chips.
There will also be a cash game at Pepper St. on Friday night, December 5th starting at 7pm and ending by midnight. As always, the game will be capped at 8 players total (including me). We will be playing mixed games with a $40 buy-in and no cap on reloading.
Dealer's choice for full rounds of - Limit Hold-Em, Pot Limit Hold-Em, Limit Omaha/8, Pot Limit Omaha/8, Pot Limit Omaha (High only), Limit Crazy Pineapple, Razz, Seven Stud, Seven Stud/8, or 2-7 Triple Draw - with no back to back rounds of the same game.
Etiquette for a cash game at Pepper St. - if you are going to be more than a half hour late that is FINE, but please call and let us know your ETA. You should plan for putting in at least 3 hours of play as a courtesy to other players, and be sure to announce ahead of time if you ARE planning to only stay for the minimum. Of course this falls in line with setting a limit for yourself; if you reach that limit, you absolutely should stop playing, even if you haven't reached 3 hours. This always supersedes time commitment etiquette; we are a friendly game first and foremost and will always understand.
These games, the tournament and cash game, will in all likelihood be the last of poker at Pepper St. in 2008. Hope to see you there!
